Libido-Boosting Foods for the Month of Love

Did you know, “proper” (I don’t like that word) nutrition can reignite your sex drive?

Do you feel the pressure to “spice things up” in your love life because Valentine’s Day is around the corner?

What if I told you about the foods that will help you “rise to the occasion”?

These foods are known to increase energy, increase blood flow, support your endocrine/hormone system. You will want to focus on foods that supply magnesium and zinc for sperm and testosterone production. Many of these spices, herbs, and foods can increase your pheromone production—the hormone that makes you attractive to the other sex.

Figs

Boost your pheromone production making you attractive to the opposite sex. A fig, when cut open, looks like a curvy female body.

Pomegranate

When opened looks like an ovary full of eggs, and will increase blood flow.

Walnuts

Look like a human brain, are full of Omega-3s (a healthy fat), which boosts the feel-good hormone dopamine. Walnuts are a perfect addition to your salads!

Pumpkin Seeds

Rich in zinc, pumpkin seeds support sperm production. They contain the amino acid tryptophan, which supports production of serotonin in the brain. Another to sprinkle over salads.

Spinach

Not just for Popeye, spinach is loaded with magnesium, and will increase blood flow to the extremities for both men and women.

Dark Chocolate

Increases both serotonin and dopamine levels making you happy and making it a mood booster. Cocoa is also known for increasing blood flow.

Hot Peppers

Increases your metabolism and heart rate, stimulating endorphins and blood flow. (WARNING: Don’t handle peppers and private parts.)

Oysters

My favorite! Oysters are loaded with zinc (elevates testosterone and HGH/human growth hormone) to help enhance your physical performance in the bedroom.

Ginger

Can improve your sex life by increasing blood flow. Ginger is very heart-healthy!

Bananas

Are high in potassium and counteract foods high in sodium. Salty foods make you bloated and diminish blood flow to the genitals, which can make it more difficult to reach orgasm.

Red Wine

Contains a rich antioxidant profile that triggers nitric oxide production in the blood which relaxes artery walls and increases blood flow “down there.” Consuming in moderation is best.

Watermelon

Has more lycopene than tomatoes and rivals Viagra in its ability to relax blood vessels and improve circulation to “ahem” certain areas of the body.

Blueberries

Makes things “harder” in a good way! According to a joint study from the University of East Engila and Harvard University, eating flavonoid-rich foods is associated with a reduced risk of ED in men.

Favorite Herbs

Maca, Ginseng, and Ashwagandha. All are adaptogenic and supportive of your hormones. For women especially, Maca can be a libido-booster. It has a mild, sweet flavor, so add it to your smoothies.

Here's to LOVE on February 14 and EVERY day!
